The Visiting Chalice
Join your fellow Parishioners in praying for vocations to the priesthood and religious life. Parishioners can sign up to bring a Chalice into their home as a symbol of this prayer commitment. Sign up by placing your name in the notebook at the Sacred Heart Altar. When your date arrives, see the sacristan after Mass and he will give you the box containing the Chalice.
Place the Chalice in a place of honor, take this opportunity to ask God for more priests to lead the Church in future days. You can pray by yourself, pray as a family or/and ask others to join you for an evening of prayer. Allow this to be a blessing to you.
Prayer for priests
O Lord, my God, You renew the Church in every age by raising up priests outstanding in holiness, living witnesses of Your unchanging Love. In Your Plan for our salvation, You provide shepherds for Your people. Fill the hearts of young men with the spirit of courage and love that they may answer Your call generously. Give parents the grace to encourage vocations in their family by prayer and good example. Raise up worthy priests for Your Altars and ardent, but gentle servents of the Gospel. Give the Church more priests and keep them faithful in their love and service. May many young men choose to serve You by devoting themselves to the service of Your people.
Prayer
The harvest is indeed great, but the laborers are few; pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest that He send laborers into His vineyard. Behold, we beg of Thee to increase the number of holy priests who walk in The footsteps and labor in Thy vineyard with apostolic zeal. Give them Thy light and Thy grace, that they may convert unbelievers and heretics, strengthen the weak, and spread Thy Kingdom ever more and more upon the earth. grant that in unshakeable fidelity we may stand firmly by Thy representative, may listen to his words and support the labors of the shepherds of our soul by a devout and Christian life. Let our prayers be acceptable to Thee and hear our petitions. Who livest and reignest forever and ever. Amen
